Microsoft wrapped up Microsoft Ignite 2019 last week in Orlando, Florida, at the Orange County Convention Center with a lot of news around cloud, data, business intelligence, teamwork, and productivity topics!
With this post I want to give you a recap on the overall Microsoft Ignite 2019 experience from a Unconference Speaker and Podcast perspective
During Microsoft Ignite you can learn, explore, and connect through deep technical training, sessions, and hands-on labs but also connect with the Microsoft Product Managers, CXOs, etc.
Let´s recap this great adventure at Microsoft Ignite 2019!
When arriving to Orlando MCO airport you could easily check-in even before picking your luggage and get your badge, this way you could save some time as I stayed at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld and there was no check-in there. You can always check-in at the OCCC:
Microsoft Ignite 2019 Pre-Day
Microsoft offers optional workshops plus Diversity and Tech Pre-days that took place on Sunday, November 3, 2019. These workshops are available during registration, and only those with a full conference pass are eligible to purchase. I strongly recommend you to take the chance next year to attend Pre-Day workshops!
Shuttles started running at 7:30 AM EST from all Microsoft Ignite hotels to the Orange County Convention Center(OCCC) so that you could easily start your pre-day activities early in the morning.
Microsoft Ignite 2019 Keynote:
Just before the Keynote, had the pleasure to meet the great Anna Chu, one the most human and kindest person I´ve ever known.
Most relevant features -IMHO where around the new hybrid capabilities around Azure and Azure Stack, however you can check all the announcements here:
The Hub at Microsoft Ignite
The HUB is the place that you should never miss and where all magic happens, you could meet a lot of MSFT Product Managers, Engineers, vendors, startups, check the Microsoft Mechanics, Theater and Community sessions not to mention the Podcast center, the Hands-On Lab section and a lot of great spaces to meet with Experts.

There was a special zone for Microsoft MVPs! 🙂
Along the week had lots of meetings and attended really interesting sessions around Azure, Azure Stack and IoT. One of the greatest ones I had the pleasure to attend was from Mark Russinovich presenting the Future of Cloud Native Applications with OAM and dapr.
Also a very good session with great demos was IoT for enterprise developers and IT professionals where Ollivier and Arjmand showed the Azure IoT ecosystem capabilities.
If you´re in the smart building approach this session would definitely blow up your head:
Here are some of the repos from the Smart Building architecture session:
Later on during session “Mission-critical Azure at scale” Microsoft PMs shared very interesting insights on the key challenges of the relying Azure infrastructure including the virtual machine scale set anatomy:
And here´s part of the new Azure Stack family:
“This rugged series systems is small enough to fit into a backpack. it’s portable and weighs less than 10 pounds including the battery allowing you to run azure services for things like disaster relief, search and rescue or even mining.”
Also, if you are interested on Apache Accumulo, here´s a session related where the PMs demonstrated some core components and scale components as well as a really good demo:
On Wednesday, November 6th, I was honored to lead at The Hub an Unconference titled: Embracing and fostering tech intensity to benefit society and thrive in a digital world
This unconference was a round table where you could share personal experiences on how to leverage Azure managed services to advance your career. Sharing tips and lessons learned on the cloud adoption journey with personal field experiences.
Here are some books recommended by Jason who attended this unconference:
